Sarah was born and raised in England, primarily in Brixton, a section of London. Although she moved to Toronto, Canada at age 12, she still speaks with an Estuary accent (here is a video with plenty of examples, though it contains spoilers for S1 of Orphan Black). Sarah's voice is low and husky. She uses foul language often, especially the words "shit" and "shite," and she has a tendency to end her sentences with "yeah?" Since she's lived in two countries, her vocabulary tends to switch depending on her mood or who she's talking to. She'll say "flat" instead of "apartment," but Alison is a "soccer mom," etc. Sarah has been a punk since she was adopted at age eight. These days, her style is slightly more subdued, but you can still see the punk influence in her clothes and makeup. She tends to dress in dark colors and wears a lot of leather. A typical Sarah outfit is a tank top or sleeveless shirt worn under some kind of jacket, with either jeans or leather pants, and boots. Here are some examples. (If she's not wearing a leather jacket, she's usually wearing a hoodie. Most importantly, Sarah is a clone. All of the clones have a synthetic DNA sequence that acts as a barcode and patent, allowing their creators to tell them apart. The clones have other synthetic DNA sequences as well—the most important one we know about is their infertility sequence, which prevents the clones from having biological children, but as an unintended consequence causes the clones to develop a cancer-like illness that is eventually fatal. Sarah's infertility sequence isn't expressed, for reasons we don't yet know, which means that she is able to have children (her daughter, Kira, and at least one other pregnancy that she didn't keep). This also means that Sarah won't develop the clone disease.
